Let’s Pour for Diabetes!

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease. An autoimmune disease results when the body's system for fighting infection (the immune system) turns against a part of the body. In diabetes, the immune system attacks the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas and destroys them.

Diabetes has always been in my life. My wonderful mother (1955-2008) was diagnosed with diabetes when she was 15 years old and lived insulin dependent for the rest of her life.

While I was pregnant I had gestational diabetes and I had to manage it with insulin.

January of last year my son was diagnosed (at 2 and a half years old) with type 1 diabetes (thank you genetics 😑). Thankfully, because I was aware of what to watch for (my mom educated me on how my children will have a greater risk for diabetes then myself and what to look for) I knew and had tests done. I wasn’t surprised when the diagnosis came in but I was scared and to be honest a bit irritated because we are way overdue for a cure.

My son needs 5 needles a day. Every single time he eats he needs insulin, EVERY SINGLE TIME, and EVERY SINGLE DAY. Birthdays, vacations, holidays, weekends....EVERY SINGLE DAY he needs 5 needles to help his body carry his carbs through his body so he has energy and continues to grow.

There are more children now, then ever before being diagnosed with diabetes each year and there is really no explanation as to why, so that’s where you come in!

Join me in a paint pouring event where I will be donating 💯 of the proceeds to diabetes research in support of Kirsten Sophia who will be running in the Edinburgh marathon in April to raise money for diabetes, diabetes camps and for her god daughter Evie. ❤️

There are only 10 spots available for this fundraiser! If we can fill these spots I’m going to donate an additional $100 so we, as a community can give $500 to an incredibly important cause!

With all that being said please Facebook message Ashes Alley to book your spot and let’s start 2019 by giving to a foundation who is working so incredibly hard already to find a cure for diabetes.

$40 - per person - 14x14 or 10x20 canvas.
