The Headline Monologues

The Headline Monologues is a series of creative monologues by local writers based on news headlines! Join us Saturday Feb 9 at 7pm at The Baker's Dozen for this unique event.

Entry is $10 or you can bring your own monologue to get in for FREE.

Here's how:

1. Find a headline from any article written in the last year or so (there's no strict cut-off date) that you think more people should know about. Your headline can be from any newspaper or news website.
2. Write a monologue inspired by the headline. It can be in any genre or style, and does not need to be directly related to the article. Think of it as an emotional/expressive response to the article, rather than a monologue based on the article.
3. Bring your monologue (and your headline) to The Baker's Dozen on Feb 9 at 7pm and you will be able to get in for FREE!

You will read your own monologue at some point during the night, followed by a free-form discussion with the audience. Please do not feel the need to steer clear of politics or hot button issues, either. The point of this is to get artists and audiences to engage with current events in a fun, safe, and creative way.

ALSO NOTE: This is only meant to get people writing, sharing their writing, and engaging in dialogue through writing. If it's your first time doing something like this, do not worry! It does not have to be a great, polished monologue. Some of you have a lot of experience with writing, while others may not have as much, but we'd like to get as many different perspectives in the room as possible.
